Background: The pathogenesis, biologic behavior, and treatment of well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NET) and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas (NEC) are different. The diagnosis relies on multiple factors, but pathologic assessment is crucial.
